El Roc i la Paula, acompanyats per la gegantona Laia, qui enguany fa 20 anys, i el petit Galderic, que celebra el seu 10è aniversari, van presidir dissabte passat la inauguració de l’exposició ‘Rubí amb ulls de gegant’. La mostra, ubicada al Museu Municipal del Castell (MMUC), s’ha organitzat amb motiu del 60è aniversari de la tradició gegantera a la ciutat.
L’exposició combina la història dels gegants de la ciutat amb l’evolució paral·lela que ha anat experimentant la ciutat de Rubí durant el darrer mig segle. Consta de 9 lones corresponents a 9 àmbits temàtics, amb informació detallada i imatges sobre diferents etapes de la tradició gegantera local. També s’hi poden trobar fotografies, vestits i un audiovisual. A més, la mostra ofereix un espai lúdic per als infants sota el títol ‘El racó del petit gegant’.
Durant l’acte d’inauguració, la cap de colla de Geganters de Rubí, Fina Hinojosa, va destacar “el treball i la feina tan important que duen a terme els components de la colla” durant tot l’any. Per la seva banda, l’alcaldessa, Ana M. Martínez, va recordar la importància d’aquesta tradició: “Des de l’Ajuntament els volem agrair la tasca que fan perquè han portat el nom de Rubí més enllà de la ciutat. L’entitat fa que el nostre municipi sigui reconegut arreu”.
A més, durant l’acte, es va fer la presentació del llibre ‘Rubí amb ulls de gegant’. Història local i cultura es combinen en l’obra de l’historiador rubinenc, Eduard Puigventós, i de l’expert en cultura popular i tradicional i membre de la colla de Geganters de Rubí, Joan-Miquel Merino. “Els Gegants sempre han format part de la nostra cultura i, precisament per això, va ser la mateixa ciutadania qui va reivindicar la seva tornada un cop havien desaparegut de Rubí”, va explicar Puigventós durant la inauguració. Merino, per la seva part, va ressaltar la importància de la mostra: “Es tracta d’elements que són tot un símbol de l’evolució social rubinenca, ciutat que sap estimar la seva cultura”.
La inauguració va comptar, a més, amb la presència de l’adjunt a la presidència de l’Agrupació de Colles de Geganters de Catalunya, Robert Quirantes: “És molt complicat tenir una tradició de 60 anys en un municipi i encara ho és més tenir-la ben documentada”. D’altra banda, Quirantes va elogiar la tasca dels geganters rubinencs: “Són una de les colles més predisposades a participar en els nostres actes. És tot un referent en el territori català”. Tot plegat va finalitzar amb la tradicional ballada de Gegants.
60 anys han passat des que el 29 de juny de 1956, durant la festivitat del patró de Rubí, Sant Pere, es bategés la primera parella de gegants rubinencs. D’aquesta forma, es va iniciar una tradició local que arriba fins a l’actualitat gràcies al treball de la colla de Geganters de Rubí, actualment formada per 50 membres. Una història ben interessant recollida en l’exposició que es pot visitar al MMUC els dimarts i dimecres de 16 a 20 hores; els dijous, divendres i dissabtes d’11 a 14 hores i de 16 a 20 hores; i els diumenges d’11 a 14 hores.
