La Policia Local i els Mossos d’Esquadra han iniciat aquest dilluns l’operatiu Comerç Segur, conegut com a Operació Grèvol dins de l’àmbit català. Es tracta d’un dispositiu conjunt que es repeteix des del 2006 i que té per objectiu incrementar la presència d’agents a la via pública i el contacta amb els comerciants. També es planifiquen controls policials en diferents punts de la xarxa viària, sobretot, als accessos a la ciutat i polígons industrials en diferents horaris.
L’objectiu del dispositiu és prevenir un possible augment de furts i robatoris tant a les llars, com als establiments comercials o als magatzems. El reforç es fa coincidint amb un augment del nombre de persones als carrers i als establiments habituals per les compres de Nadal i Reis. Són moments que la ciutadania porta més diners a sobre del que és habitual i els comerços i magatzems també acumulen més gènere. El dispositiu especial de Nadal s’allargarà fins a la campanya de rebaixes.
Precisament, la qüestió de la seguretat preocupa molt als comerciants locals, que estan fent una campanya de recollida de signatures per demanar a l’Ajuntament més presència policial després que hagin detectat un augment d’activitat delinqüencial a la ciutat.
